Prof.
P.Kusuma Kumari has put in an illustrious academic career
spanning for over 35 years ever since she joined service
in 1973 as Lecturer in Telugu at Sri Satya Sai Institute
of Higher Learning, Anantapur. She moved on to Sri Padmavathi
Mahila Viswavidyalayam, Tirupati in the year 1984, where
she became Professor of Telugu in the year 1992. Her educational
qualifications range from B.Sc., M.A., B.Ed., Post graduate
diplomas in Linguistics and Translation and Rashtra Basha
Visharada in Hindi to Ph.D. in Telugu from Sri Venkateswara
University, Tirupati.
She
has put in an extensive academic administrative experience
as Head & Chairperson, Board of Studies in the Department
of Telugu for 12 years. She has held almost all the University
responsibilities in the capacity of Chief warden, Dy. Warden,
Principal, Dean, NSS Coordinator, Student Union advisor,
cultural coordinator, Chief Superintendent for Exams, Secretary
& Coordinator for the pre-examination coaching center
for SC, ST & BC students, Director Centre for Women’s
studies, Coordinator for Simple Sanskrit Speaking Center,
Registrar-in-charge, Director Distance Education Centre,
Executive Council Member etc.
She
has guided 18 students for the Ph.D. and 4 for M.Phil apart
from handling 3 research projects. She has attended 6 International
seminars, 108 national seminars, delivered 7 endowment lectures,
organized 9 Seminars and received extensive professional
training. She has authored 7 books, published 45 articles
in journals, Delivered 20 talks on All India Radio. She
has visited countries like USA, China, America, Egypt, Bangkok,
Malaysia and Singapore. She is associated with a number
of academic bodies and Universities.
Prof.P.Kusuma
Kumari has significantly contributed for Telugu Language
Development and Modernisation. She has several distinctions
and awards to her credit some of them being the Best Teacher
award from the Govt. of A.P. during 1992, Woman of the year
award by the American Biographical Institute in 1999, Kavithraya
award from T.Rami Reddy Jayanthi Sangam, Nellore in 2001. |
