| Regulations for Four-Year Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) Degree Course (with effect from the batch admitted in 2006-07)
1. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR ADMISSION:
A candidate seeking admission into first year B.Tech. Degree course should have passed the Intermediate Examination of the Board of Intermediate Education of Andhra Pradesh with Mathematics and Physical Sciences(Physics and chemistry) as optional subjects or any other equivalent examination recognised by Sri Krishnadevaraya University.
2. AWARD OF B.TECH DEGREE: The degree of B.Tech shall be conferred on a candidate who has satisfied the following conditions.
2.1 The candidate must have, after admission into the regular B.Tech programme of the university, pursued a course of study for not less than four academic years in any affiliated college of Sri krishnadevaraya university.
2.2 The candidate must have satisfied the minimum academic requirements in appropriate branch of engineering in each year/semester, herein after prescribed.
3. COURSES OF STUDY: The courses of study prescribed for B.Tech. Degree are
1. Computer Science and Engineering (CSE). 2. Electronics and communications Engineering (ECE). 3. Bio Technology (BT)
3.1 The first year of study will be of annual pattern. The II, III and IV years of study will be of semester pattern with two semesters in each year. A student is required to choose a branch of study at the time of admission. No change of branch shall be allowed after the admissions are closed for the first B.Tech. Class.
4. EVALUATION 4.1 The performance of the student in each year/semester shall be evaluated subject-wise. The distribution of marks between the sessional work ( based on internal assessment) and the university examination will be as follows.
4.2 In each year/semester of study there shall be two internal tests in each theory, design and/or drawing subjects conducted once in the middle of the year/semester and the other towards the end of the year / semester. In case of theory subjects the sessional marks will be awarded based on the better of the two tests. In case of design and/or drawing subjects, the day to day performance will be evaluated for 25 marks and for the remaining 25marks the better of the internal tests will be considered.
In the case of the practical subjects, the sessional marks will be awarded based on day to day class work and the tests, if any. The procedure for the test will be as decided by the department.
No make up test for the sessional marks will be conducted in any subject. A student, who is absent for any test, shall be deemed to have scored zero in that test. In case of the project work, the sessional marks will be awarded based on the performance of the student in day to day work, seminars, internal viva-voce and project report submitted.
4.3 There shall be a comprehensive University Examination of three hours duration (except where stated otherwise in the detailed schemes) for each Theory, Design and/or Drawing subjects. Question papers setting shall be done by the external examiners.
4.4 For each practical subject the University examination, with duration as specified in the scheme shall be conducted by one internal and one external examiner. How ever in case the external examiner is not available, principal/chief- superintendent (in consultation with Head of the department) may nominate a staff member from same institution as an external examiner.
4.5 The viva-voce examination in the Project Work shall be conducted by one external and two internal examiners.
5. MINIMUM ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS: 5.1 A candidate shall be deemed to have satisfied the minimum academic requirement in each theory, Design and/or Drawing, practical subjects (including Project), if he/she scores not less than 35% marks in the University examination. However, a minimum aggregate of 40% in all the four years put together is required for the award of the degree. Aggregate, for this purpose, shall mean the aggregate of marks of University examinations and sessional examinations put together at all the years/semesters from I to IV B.Tech.
5.2 A candidate shall be declared to have satisfied the minimum academic requirements if he/she satisfies each of the following conditions:
(i) Secures minimum requirements as stated in 5.1 (ii) Satisfies the minimum requirement of attendance as stipulated in Clause 6, and (iii) Satisfies all other regulations, academic or otherwise stipulated by the University, from time to time.
5.3 A student who has satisfied the minimum attendance requirements in any year/semester, may repeat that year/semester, after obtaining written permission from the Principal and cancelling the previous record of attendance and sessional work of the year/semester. However, this facility may be availed by any student not more than twice during the entire course of study.
6. ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT:
Regular course of study means a minimum aggregate attendance of 75% (in all subjects) in the year/semester, with a minimum attendance of 50% in each individual subject.
Condonation of shortage of attendance in genuine cases on health grounds may be recommended by the Principal, if a candidate puts in an aggregate attendance of at least 62.5% with a minimum attendance of 50% in each individual subject.
A candidate who has not satisfied these requirements of attendance in any year/semester shall have to repeat that year/semester. The attendance under this clause does not include attendance at any examination/test.
A student is required to complete the course of study satisfying the attendance requirements in all the four years of the course within a period of eight academic years from the year of admission, failing which he/she shall be declared ineligible to pursue B.Tech degree course in this University.
7. CONDITIONS OF PROMOTION: 7.1 A student shall be eligible for promotion to the I semester of II B.Tech. if he/she satisfies the minimum attendance requirements for I.B.Tech as stipulated in clause 6.
7.2 A student shall be eligible for promotion to the succeeding semester if he/she satisfies the minimum attendance requirements in the immediately preceding semester as given in clause 6.
8. MINIMUM INSTRUCATION DAYS: Each academic year shall consist of minimum of 144 instruction days and 72 instruction days in a semester excluding the days allotted for tests/examinations and preparation holidays.
9. AWARD OF CLASS: After a candidate has satisfied the minimum requirements prescribed for the completion of the course, as stipulated in clause 5, and is eligible for the award of degree, he / she shall be placed in one of the following four classifications:
First Class with Distinction : 70 % aggregate or more
First Class : 60 % aggregate or more but less than 70%
Second Class : 50 % aggregate or more but less than 60%
Third Class : 40 % aggregate or more but less than 50%
For this purpose, aggregate shall mean the aggregate of the marks i.e., the university examination marks and the sessional marks put together in all the subjects at all the semesters of II,III and IV B.Tech.
10. SUPPLEMENTARY UNIVERSITY EXAMINATIONS: Regular University examinations will be held in the subjects of each year at the end of the academic year/semester. In addition, supplementary university examinations will be arranged during the academic year for those appearing for supplementary examinations.
Candidates appearing for regular university examinations as supplementary candidates may have to take more than one university examination per day.
11. AMENDMENT OF REGULATIONS: The university may, from time to time, revise, amend or change the regulations, scheme of examinations and syllabi.
12. GENERAL :
12.1 The award of the degree to any candidate shall be with held if the candidate has not cleared the dues to the institution/Hostel/University and/or if a case of disciplinary action is pending against the candidate.
12.2 Whenever ambiguities arise in interpreting the regulations the joint board of studies shall have the powers to issue clarifications and/or to make new rules for removing such ambiguities. |
